At the University of Southampton we think it’s important that science is open and transparent, but also that our attempts to improve science are inclusive of disciplines, career phases and methodologies. Open research is a key pillar of the work we and others do at the University to support both the quality and integrity of our research, as well as an important factor to help embed and sustain a positive research culture.

As culture change is not easy to establish, in the first years we have decided to focus on a few key priorities, which can be summarised as:

  • Better communication channels, including a website and mailing list.
  • A ‘market place’ and event for sharing open and transparent science practices.
  • Collecting and creating useful training resources for open and transparent science.
