The event is an opportunity for researchers across Southampton and further afield to discuss opportunities for Open Research.

WHEN 11 June 2026
WHERE Building 100, Room 3023. Highfield Campus.
Keynote: Professor Marcus Munafò, University of Bath
“Don’t ask what you can do for Open Research…”
The benefits of Open Research are often framed in moral terms – that the public should have access to research that they fund, for example. This is entirely valid, but moral arguments are only part of the study. I will explore the instrumental reasons for investing in and supporting Open Research – run other words, what Open Research can do for us (both those in academia and the general public). In principle, this framing should help demonstrate the potential for a return on any investment in Open Research.
